APV team in support of CMS’ vision to reduce fraud, waste, and abuse across the Medicare and Medicaid programs, performs ongoing monitoring and conducts investigations of Medicare and Medicaid providers to determine if any fraudulent and/or criminal activity should result in additional legal action from CMS to include revocation of billing privileges or debarment from the program. These investigations occur before, during, and after a provider is enrolled in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. During these investigations, our staff evaluates the enrollment application, any prior suspension or revocation, medical licensure, and any related public records. In collaboration with the Center for Program Integrity (CPI) staff, our team developed the custom cloud-based ALA Case Management System (ACMS) for case review operations, in 80 days using agile methodology and emerging technologies like Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Data Analytics & Reporting. The ACMS is hosted in FedRAMP-compliant Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud for virtual real-time access, built-in business continuity, and data security.
