June 2023 – Columbia, MD – The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), and the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) has awarded APV a multi-year contract to provide IT modernization project management support. . The Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) is the largest Bureau within HRSA. BPHC funds nearly 1,400 health centers. They provide affordable, accessible, and high-quality primary health care to underserved communities at nearly 15,000 sites.
APV’s project delivery team will provide services to support BPHC in Governance and Program oversight as BPHC is engaged in a multi-year transformation where the annual data submission from health centers, known as the Uniform Data System (UDS) will transition to a far more granular data standard. The new system will be called UDS+ and will be based on Health Level Seven (HL7) fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standards that will allow health centers to submit far more granular data. Developing the UDS+ system for automated, patient-level data submission from health centers and developing modern data lakehouse are critical steps in BPHC’s transformation. APV is humbled to play a critical role in supporting these highly visible programs. Each of these projects must adhere to HRSA’s Enterprise Project Lifecyle (EPLC) project management framework. APV’s internally standardized yet flexible approach will enable efficient rapid project start-up and excellence throughout the lifecycle of this effort.
